Logan's New Shoes

Before we went to San Diego, Brian took Logan to the store to pick out new shoes, and these are the winning pair! He chose these, because he could do the best tricks in them.... at least that's what he told Brian when he tried them on!

One more thing

Okay, I really need to go to bed now. But I have had so much on my mind lately! Tonight Brian and I were talking about what if's. For some reason, lately I have been thinking about what if I die tomorrow? The thought literally brings tears to my eyes. I was talking to Brian about it tonight and he said he just had a dream the other night that I died. So, are you about to cry yet? Okay, well here's the one redeeming message about this whole depressing conversation. My sweet husband reminded me tonight after he assured me that no one could ever replace me, that we are sealed together FOREVER. Not just for the next few weeks, or years, or for this life, but for ETERNITY. As long as we live faithful to receive those blessings, they will be given to us. He told me that he finds comfort in knowing that if I die tomorrow, he will see me again, and when we are reunited, it will seem like the years had gone by so fast. Then I thought about our kids, and how blessed we are to be sealed to them too. So even if I die while my kids are too young to remember me, they will know me eventually. I will be able to be with them eternally, and love them and laugh with them, and hug them. There is no greater joy than knowing that my family is forever.

*Disclaimer: I am not ill or planning on dying anytime soon. I think I have had these recent thoughts because I am so in love with my family, and almost afraid of losing them. I don't want you to worry or anything, because I am not only fine, but in GREAT HEALTH and HAPPINESS. I just let my mind wander sometimes, and this is what I get!

Sweet Jaxon

I was sending an email to Emily the other day, when I realized that my baby, Jaxon, is almost a year old! Coming to that reality hit me so deep. So before I completely forget all of the sweet things about my BABY, I need to record them. I remember wanting to get pregnant, and thinking that we would start trying and hopefully be pregnant in about six months. A few weeks later I found out I was pregnant! I was so excited. I had so wanted to have another child. I enjoyed being pregnant a lot more the second time around, more so than the first, because I was already prepared for some of the horrible things that would soon happen to my body. The weight gain, stretch marks, hair in weird places, morning sickness that had nothing to do with "morning", and finally, LABOR. I didn't gain nearly as much weight the second time around, however, you all know that I still blew up like a hot air balloon. But it was so worth it. I was induced, and it was a dream come true. I healed faster, breastfeeding was so much easier, and I was so instantly in love with my baby. I remember feeling so much overwhelming joy in my heart, I didn't even know was possible.

I remember nursing Jaxon in the night, and his warm, chubby little hands on my chest. So relaxed, and peaceful, and calm. (Okay, so this only happened in the middle of the night that he would just be still, but I loved every minute of it.)

I remember his new born cry..... so helpless, and needing of his mother.

I remember his horrible four month chronic diaper rash, that I felt soooo bad for, and finally insisted that it was something more. (It was just impetigo, and he got a prescription and it cleared right up).

I remember his little smile, and his big chubby cheeks. He looked sooo much like me when he was first born.

I remember his love for his brother. He would crawl up to Logan's door every morning and play there until Logan woke up. Then Logan would yell to him, "Hey Jaxon, get me outta here!"

I remember his independent spirit from the beginning. He started taking steps by himself 2 days before he was 8 months old. Then, I think just to appease me, he just crawled faster, and only walked a few steps unassisted until month 9 or 10. Now he walks everywhere, completely by himself. He climbs up stairs, up on chairs, and gets into more trouble every day! He loves his Daddy and his brother. They are his favorite playmates. But his mommy is his favorite nurturing mate. He's not a cuddle-bug at all, and when he does cuddle, it's usually with Daddy, or Grandpa Grover. He has a special bond with Grandpa Grover. "It's because he's a Man Child." (That's what Grandpa Grover says).

Jaxon's birthday is right around the corner, and I am trying to hard to just soak up every day of his squishy legs and cheeks, and his corn silk Hair, and his Navy Blue eyes. He's so happy and loved by his family. I don't want to let go of my baby yet...

Logan's silliness

Some of Logan's latest funny things that he's said include:

When Grandma Davis was here, she slept in his bed, and Logan was supposed to sleep on the floor. Well, when they were trying to go to bed, Logan was telling Grandma Davis about his toys, and what they are, and not to break them. Then he said, "And I'm Logan Davis, and this is MY bed, and DON'T break it!" We will never forget that!

Logan told us tonight how a bird sounds, "like dis, Caaaw, caaw, caaaaw!" Then he ran around in circles flapping his wings and making bird sounds. Never a dull moment.

Logan called Grandma Grover a few days ago, with my phone, and this is what he said when she answered, "Oh hi Gamma. Do you want to go to da mall wit us? Otay, you just talk to my mommy, hee you go." Grandma Grover could not and did not resist his sweet invitation.

Logan's new favorite movie is Tarzan. The boys were in Logan's room, watching Tarzan, and I peeked in on them just in time to witness Logan putting his hand on Jaxon's chest and saying, "Tawzan, (then putting his hand on his own chest) me Jane." "Oh, no no no, I mean um, Jane (touching Jaxon), I Tawzan." He didn't know I was there, but oh how happy I was to witness such a sweet moment.

It is truly the moments like this that make life worth the while. I am learning more and more each day to treasure these days.

A Much Needed Weekend

This weekend was full of NOTHING!!! And why am I so excited about an uninteresting weekend? Well, because we haven't had a normal weekend where there wasn't something major going on in MONTHS, I tell ya!! Seriously, I can't remember the last weekend that we didn't have a party or BBQ or ward activity, or something else going on, so it was so nice to have a weekend full of lounging around the house. Sleeping in (well, until the kids woke up), making breakfast, making dinner together, eating together, taking naps, actually doing my hair, NOT worrying about babysitters, cleaning house, watching movies, and most of all, laughing and playing together. I soooo needed this. Friday night, we made a simple dinner, put the kids to bed, and then Brian and I played Canasta until 1:00am! I didn't know I could stay up that late anymore! It was so fun, I highly recommend that card game. It's simple, but so fun and mostly just fun to play together. This might sound kind of weird, but I think me and Brian fell in love with each other again this weekend. (Not that we ever fell OUT of love) but we just flirted with each other, and laughed together. We talked, about our youth, and reminisced on our dating/engagement time, and fell in love all over again. We had a blast with the boys. Those two are so stinkin cute. We didn't worry about work or school or pleasing anyone else, but our own little family. So all in all, this was a MUCH needed nothingful weekend, and I LOVED every minute of it!

I've been experimenting with Photoshop again, and this is what I figured out how to do tonight!!! I figured out how to create overlays. They're pretty cool, I think, they just add some fun textures to the picture. Anywho, the pictures are by Heather (plainlytaken.blogspot.com) and the digi scraps are from Summertime Designs.
